HacktoberFest 2025 with LocalStack

🎃 HacktoberFest x LocalStack: A Match Made in the Cloud!

It’s that time of year again! HacktoberFest is back! 🍂👩🏾‍💻👨🏻‍💻 This year, LocalStack is coming through with fresh issues, sample apps, and docs updates that are perfect for anybody who loves open source and wants to get hands-on with cloud emulation. Whether it’s your first PR or your fiftieth, this is the moment to jump in.

Important: Register First

Before you start contributing, make sure you’re registered at hacktoberfest.com. Only registered contributors have their PRs counted for HacktoberFest swag.

HacktoberFest runs October 1–31, 2025 so the clock is ticking. ⏰

Why hack with LocalStack?

LocalStack is powered by the community, for the community. Every contribution helps developers everywhere build faster, test easier, and ship with confidence.

This HacktoberFest, we’re highlighting two key repos that are ready for contributions:

  • localstack-pro-samples – A collection of sample apps showcasing serverless patterns, failover, debugging, and more. Great for developers who want to flex their cloud skills.
  • localstack-docs – Our documentation repo. Perfect if you love improving tutorials, fixing typos, or creating guides that help others get up to speed quickly.

What You Can Contribute

We’ve scoped out issues for every skill level. You can:

  • Update docs: improve examples, fix gaps, polish guides
  • Fix bugs: tackle issues and improve stability
  • Enhance sample apps: extend and add new ones
  • Write tutorials & how-tos: help others learn faster

If you’re not sure where to start, check the HacktoberFest issues we’ll be tagging in both repos.
